Instructor Development Courses

These five-day courses offer the latest techniques in classroom instruction and presentation. The class will help the officer plan and evaluate vocational instruction and develop classroom skills that can be applied to any subject by emphasizing how to motivate adult students. Attending officers will enhance their communication skills and develop a greater understanding of which method is appropriate for a given subject and learn how to write measurable and observable course objectives to better evaluate training effectiveness. Subject included in this course, classroom communication and methods of instruction as well as other valuable instruction aids. Class enrollment will be limited to twenty-five certified Iowa law enforcement officers or agency personnel with training responsibilities. This course meets the requirement found in IAC Chapter 4 (Instructor Certification criteria for approved Regional Law Enforcement Training facilities).
