Carole Lund-Smith joined the Law Enforcement Academy in May 2013 as the telecommunicator training coordinator. Carole is responsible for the 40 Hr Basic Telecommunicator training, Advanced Telecommunicator training, Telecommunicator Supervisor training and 8 hr In-Service classes; as well as instructing radio communications in the officer basic classes. Carole is a current member of APCO International.
Previously, Carole spent 14 years working at the Department of Public Safety administering a law enforcement/criminal justice network known as the IOWA System. Her responsibilities included training, certification, validations, IOWA System misuse investigations; as well as being the point of contact at DPS for the FBI triennial audits.
Prior to working at DPS, Carole dispatched at Polk County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years.
Carole holds a Bachelor Of Education degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
