Judy A. Bradshaw
Judy A. Bradshaw was appointed by Governor Branstad to Director of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in July 2015. Prior to her appointment she served as the Assistant Director of the Academy.
Judy served as a Police Officer with the Des Moines Police Department for 34 years and was appointed as the Department’s 60th Chief of Police in 2007.
She served on numerous boards and commissions throughout her tenure on the Department, to include Chair of the Municipal Fire and Police Retirement System of Iowa from 1990-2014.
After serving 7 years as Chief of Police, she retired from the Des Moines Police Department in 2014.
A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Director Bradshaw holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement from Des Moines Area Community College, as well as her B. A. and M.P.A. in Public Administration from Drake University.
